This fellowship is designed for clinician scientists who have completed a higher research degree (MD/PhD) and have postdoctoral experience, enabling them to develop an independent research niche in cancer research. The award supports innovative projects in areas such as basic biology, preclinical studies, imaging, radiotherapy, engineering and physical sciences, population research, and early detection. The scheme emphasizes alignment with Cancer Research UK’s strategic priorities, including early detection, prevention, childhood and young people’s cancers, and cancers of unmet need. Fellows are expected to remain clinically active during the fellowship and are provided with structured mentoring, career development support, and regular progress reviews throughout the five-year award.
