Key Information: Requires outline application before full proposal; applicants must remain clinically active during the fellowship.
This fellowship is designed to support clinician scientists who have completed a higher research degree (MD/PhD) and have some postdoctoral experience, enabling them to take the first step toward establishing an independent research program in cancer. The scheme funds a wide range of cancer-relevant research, including basic biology, preclinical studies, imaging, radiotherapy, engineering, population research, and early detection. Proposals should address clear cancer-related questions and align with Cancer Research UK’s strategic priorities, such as early detection, prevention, childhood and young people’s cancers, and cancers of unmet need. Fellows must remain clinically active throughout the award, and host institutions are expected to provide a supportive environment and resources.
