Description
This grant aims to fund interdisciplinary research collaborations between Norwegian research groups and societal or industry actors to generate new knowledge and build expertise necessary for a green and just societal transition. Projects should address the societal, political, economic, or cultural prerequisites and barriers to transitioning within nature’s tolerance limits, while ensuring welfare, quality of life, and legitimacy in a low-emission society. Eligible research areas include:
- Societal dilemmas and trade-offs (e.g., climate adaptation, nature conservation, jobs, competitiveness, energy transition)
- Distributional impacts of transition policies and instruments
- Circular resource use and fair allocation of scarce resources
- Implementation and societal consequences of the energy transition
- Climate adaptation and resilience
- Workforce challenges and opportunities in a green transition
Projects must be relevant to Norwegian conditions (though international perspectives are welcome), and focus on societal—not technological or commercial—development.
