Summary: Supports interdisciplinary research collaborations to advance data-driven solutions for the Norwegian Armed Forces, covering the entire data value chain and integrating human, organisational, and legal aspects.
Key Information: Project owner must be an approved Norwegian research organisation; collaboration with at least one defence sector partner and two non-research user partners required.
This funding opportunity aims to promote the development of new knowledge and research expertise for a data-driven defence through collaborative projects. The call encourages research organisations to partner with the defence sector, business, public, and/or voluntary actors to address challenges across the data value chain—from data collection and processing to information flow and practical applications in the Norwegian Armed Forces. Research topics may include data quality and sharing, modelling, authorisation and access, robust system design, and the development of digital solutions such as cloud services, decision support systems, simulations, digital twins, and AI applications.
Projects must integrate human, organisational, and legal considerations and are expected to produce results that can be developed into new products, processes, or services for the Armed Forces. Interdisciplinary approaches, responsible research and innovation (RRI), and plans for potential EU or NATO project qualification are strongly encouraged.
