Description
The Commission for Cultural Centers and Historic Preservation awards state bond-funded assistance to governmental entities and nonprofit organizations preserving Nevada’s historic buildings, structures, objects, and archaeological sites. The goal is to develop a network of cultural centers and activities while protecting and promoting the state’s cultural resources. The Commission operates within the Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, and the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) administers the grant program.
Funding supports rehabilitation and construction, as well as planning directly tied to a construction project. Examples include roofing, building systems, accessibility improvements, seismic retrofitting, architectural drawings, and historic structure reports. The Commission considers historic preservation, community use, tourism, project sustainability, and the applicant’s ability to complete and manage the work.
