    Description

The Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) is an initiative of the European Union designed to preserve peace, strengthen international security, promote international cooperation, and support democracy, the rule of law, and human rights globally. The CFSP budget funds a diverse set of actions, including civilian stabilisation missions, EU Special Representatives, the Kosovo Specialist Chamber, non-proliferation and disarmament projects, and the European Security and Defence College. Funding is implemented via Council decisions and managed both directly and indirectly, enabling rapid and flexible responses to geopolitical developments and external crises.

    CFSP activities focus on:

    • Civilian Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) missions improving security, strengthening the rule of law, combating terrorism and organized crime, and supporting compliance with international agreements.
    • EU Special Representatives advancing EU policies and interests in regions affected by conflict or instability.
    • Non-proliferation and disarmament initiatives, including efforts to control arms transfers and implement international treaties.
    • Training and capacity-building through institutions such as the European Security and Defence College.
