Description
The Community Collaborative Research Grants (CCRG) program funds innovative, community-engaged research addressing water resource and coastal challenges in North Carolina. The program is a partnership between the North Carolina Water Resources Research Institute, North Carolina Sea Grant, and the William R. Kenan Jr. Institute for Engineering, Technology and Science. CCRG projects must combine the expertise of both scientific researchers and local knowledge experts to co-create practical, impactful solutions for the state’s communities and environment.
Research focus areas include, but are not limited to:
- Risk communication around natural hazards
- Nature-based solutions for stormwater, stream erosion, flooding, and storm impacts
- STEM education and pedagogy
- Regulated and unregulated contaminants
- Water quality (surface and groundwater)
- Economic evaluation of ecosystem services
- Fisheries and aquaculture
Projects partnering with the Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership or the KIETS Climate Leaders Program are especially encouraged.
