The Community Engaged Scholars Program (CES-P) at the Medical University of South Carolina is designed to build and strengthen community-academic partnerships focused on collaborative research that addresses community health priorities. Established in 2009, CES-P provides both didactic and experiential training, guiding teams of academic and community partners through the development and implementation of a Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR) project. The program emphasizes mutual ownership of research processes and outcomes, aiming to foster sustainable collaborations that improve health outcomes in South Carolina and beyond. Teams receive mentorship, group learning sessions, and resources to enhance their research skills and partnership effectiveness.
