The Community Fund for Women & Girls, managed by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, is the region’s only endowment dedicated to promoting the social and economic advancement of women and girls. This grant program supports nonprofit organizations in the Greater New Haven area that deliver direct services, advocacy, or community organizing to benefit women and girls—including cisgender, transgender, and nonbinary individuals.

Funded initiatives must align with one or more of the following pathways:

    • Economic Autonomy: Promoting economic security and mobility through access to housing, entrepreneurship, workforce participation, direct cash assistance, childcare innovation, and policy advocacy.
    • Leadership: Supporting leadership development, advocacy skills, and equity-centered leadership roles in business, government, and nonprofits.
    • Education: Advancing higher educational achievement, especially for underrepresented groups, non-traditional and first-generation students, and student parents, as well as advocacy for educational equity.
    • Health & Wellness: Expanding access to reproductive and maternal health, violence prevention, and policy change to ensure health, confidence, and safety.

Projects funded in recent years have included technology and entrepreneurship training, support for student parents, violence prevention, and wraparound services such as childcare and mental health counseling.
