Description
The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), within the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs, supports new or enhanced comprehensive drug prevention and intervention programs for youth. Funding helps governments and nonprofit organizations build community-based capacity and deliver coordinated services in schools and extracurricular settings, working with local law enforcement and community coalitions.
Supported activities include prevention education for students from preschool through grade 12, early identification and intervention, mentoring, treatment referrals, and investigations. Projects may also engage parents and caregivers, train school personnel and community partners, and establish “safe zones of passage” so students can travel safely to and from schools and activities.
