Supports research advancing mathematics or statistics through the development of computational and data-enabled science and engineering tools and theory.

--- ## Description This program supports projects that address the mathematical and statistical challenges arising from the increasing importance of computational experimentation, modeling, and simulation, as well as the explosion in the production and analysis of digital data from experimental and observational sources. The aim is to foster the creation and development of next-generation mathematical and statistical software tools, and the theoretical foundations underpinning them, to tackle these computational and big-data challenges. Funded research must significantly advance mathematics or statistics and directly address computational or data-driven problems. Proposals must include a Principal Investigator or co-Principal Investigator who is a researcher in an area supported by the Division of Mathematical Sciences. The program encourages multidisciplinary collaborations and projects that offer training opportunities for junior researchers in mathematics or statistics.
