Description
The Contracted Seed Grow Out Program, administered by the Nevada Department of Agriculture (NDA), aims to increase the supply of high-quality, Nevada-grown native seed by directly contracting with local producers. The program provides native seed to participants at no cost and compensates them on a flat, per-acre basis for establishing and producing native seed crops. Producers receive a guaranteed payout for each contracted acre, regardless of harvest outcome, in exchange for delivering all harvested material to NDA for the duration of the contract. This initiative supports the expansion of locally sourced native seed, encourages the adoption of water-efficient crops, and ensures seed quality through state certification standards.
