--- ## Description This grant supports research and innovation aimed at enhancing the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS) by improving soil-vegetation-atmosphere modelling and data assimilation of atmospheric constituents. The focus is on delivering more accurate simulations of biogenic fluxes of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and other atmospheric constituents, advancing environmental policy monitoring for issues like eutrophication and acidification, and improving soil and vegetation management to mitigate public health impacts from pollen and VOCs. Key research areas include: - Advancing parameterizations and numerical models for soil-vegetation-atmosphere interactions, including evapotranspiration and data assimilation techniques. - Developing dynamic sub-models for trace gases and aerosols compatible with CAMS operations. - Improving methodologies for estimating deposition fluxes and their uncertainties. - Creating data assimilation approaches for highly resolved deposition products using in-situ and Earth Observation data. - Expanding pollen source models to additional allergenic species in Europe and investigating global pollen modelling. - Enhancing the use of satellite observations for deposition and emission calculations. Projects are expected to produce tools and methodologies transferable to CAMS operational systems, with a strong focus on operational readiness, open-source software, collaboration with other Copernicus services, and demonstration of downstream applications. Synergies with related EU-funded projects are encouraged, as is the integration of the gender dimension in research content where relevant. --- ## Due Dates - Opening date: May 22, 2025 - Submission deadline: September 25, 2025, 17:00 Brussels time --- ## Funding Amount - Total available: Around €3,000,000 (lump sum grant) - Only one project will be funded under this call. --- ## Eligibility - Open to legal entities from EU Member States and Horizon Europe associated countries.
