--- ## Description This Horizon Europe call supports research and innovation projects to develop new and advanced methods for estimating the impact of fires on vegetation and related carbon fluxes, with the aim of enhancing the Copernicus Anthropogenic CO₂ Emissions Monitoring & Verification Support (CO2MVS) capacity. The focus is on improving the integration of fire-vegetation-drought interactions into CO2MVS, refining fire emissions estimation for the Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS), enhancing fire risk forecasting in the Copernicus Emergency Management Service (CEMS), and advancing the use of Copernicus Land Monitoring Service (CLMS) products for assessing fire impacts and carbon fluxes. Projects should: - Advance understanding of wildfire impacts on the carbon cycle and land use-related anthropogenic emissions. - Evaluate and improve fire and vegetation models, including process-based and empirical approaches. - Integrate observation-based datasets (e.g., vegetation states, drought conditions, burnt areas) to better represent fire-vegetation interactions. - Demonstrate applications that benefit from improved fire impact estimation, such as air quality, risk forecasting, and climate projections. - Facilitate the transfer of research results to Copernicus operations, ensuring readiness for operational deployment. - Use open-licensed software and address conditions for result exploitation by Copernicus entrusted entities. - Consider the gender dimension in research content if relevant. Indicative budget: €3,000,000 (lump sum) for the single funded project. - Only one project will be funded under this call. - Funding is provided as a lump sum grant under Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Actions (RIA). --- ## Eligibility - Open to legal entities from EU Member States and associated countries as described in [Annex B of the Work Programme General Annexes](https://ec.europa.eu/info/funding-tenders/opportunities/docs/2021-2027/horizon/wp-call/2025/wp-14-general-annexes_horizon-2025_en.pdf). -
