The Core Operational Improvement Awards (COIA) are designed to support UCSF Campus Cores in improving their operational effectiveness, cost-efficiency, and long-term sustainability. Funded by the Executive Vice Chancellor & Provost’s fund for Core Improvement and administered by the Research Resource Program (RRP), these awards prioritize projects that foster cross-departmental collaboration, administrative improvements, and the merger or integration of shared resource facilities. Funding may be used for personnel, training, software, minor renovations, supporting equipment (that aids workflows but does not generate data directly), and other expenses that clearly demonstrate operational improvements and return on investment. The program aims to deliver broad benefits to the UCSF research community and encourages leveraging departmental contributions for sustainability.
