This grant opportunity funds the Creative Industries Film Lab and Residency – American Film Showcase 2026, a five-day public diplomacy program designed to strengthen U.S.-Indonesia ties in the creative sector. The program coincides with the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival Market 2026 and consists of two main components:
- Exhibition Booth: An interactive, professionally designed booth featuring American Film Showcase and Freedom 250 branding, showcasing American cinematic arts, technology, and industry standards. The booth will host expert-led panels on topics such as American film, digital freedom, intellectual property rights, and artificial intelligence.
- Film Residency: A hands-on training residency for 30 emerging and mid-career Indonesian filmmakers, focusing on cinematography, directing, production design, and American industry standards and technology. The residency promotes knowledge exchange, industry networking, and the adoption of American technology and practices.
The initiative aims to build sustainable professional networks, advance U.S. foreign policy objectives, and position the United States as Indonesia’s premier partner for creative economy development.
