The Cytopathology Fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, is a one-year, ACGME-accredited program providing comprehensive training in the performance and interpretation of fine needle aspiration biopsies, gynecologic and nongynecologic exfoliative cytology, and the application of ancillary techniques such as flow cytometry, molecular diagnostics, cytogenetics, and immunocytochemistry. Fellows gain hands-on experience with a wide array of specimen types, including both superficial and image-guided fine needle aspirations (e.g., ultrasound-guided thyroid FNAs), and benefit from increasing responsibility in cytopathology sign-out, robust clinical interaction, and strong research opportunities. The program prepares graduates for board certification and successful careers in cytopathology.
