This predoctoral summer fellowship honors Dalmas A. Taylor, a leader in advancing the inclusion of people of color in psychology, and provides doctoral students with the opportunity to work on public policy issues in Washington, DC. Funded by the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues (SPSSI) and administered in partnership with APA Advocacy and the APA Minority Fellowship Program, the fellowship emphasizes hands-on participation in policy activities such as attending hearings, crafting policy briefs, writing blog posts, planning webinars, and conducting background research.
Fellows collaborate with SPSSI and APA policy staff, engage with leaders at the intersection of psychology and policy, and participate in major events including the SPSSI Summer Conference and the APA Minority Fellowship Program Summer Psychology Institute. The program is designed to be flexible, with both in-person and virtual components tailored to the fellow’s needs and academic schedule.
