Description
The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) Information Innovation Office (I2O) seeks groundbreaking research ideas and transformational capabilities in the informational and computational domains to maintain and extend U.S. national security advantages. This Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) is office-wide and solicits proposals for innovative research that is not addressed by ongoing I2O programs or other published solicitations. The focus is on revolutionary, not evolutionary, advances—submissions should challenge current assumptions and promise to radically change the state of the art.
Key thrust areas include:
- Proficient Artificial Intelligence (AI): Advancing trustworthy, robust, and innovative AI systems for defense and security applications.
- Resilient, Adaptable, and Secure Systems: Enhancing the security and resilience of both new and legacy software, leveraging formal methods and AI.
- Advantage in Cyber Operations: Developing cyber tools and capabilities that operate beyond human capacity, anticipating adversarial countermeasures.
- Confidence in the Information Domain: Protecting, measuring, and ensuring the integrity of the information domain, from cognitive to technical levels.
Proposals outside these areas may also be considered if they offer novel capabilities with the potential for decisive information advantage.
