--- ## Description This award celebrates and encourages outstanding achievements in organic synthesis research and education. Established in 2023, the program honors individuals who have made significant contributions to both the advancement of organic synthesis and its instruction. Recipients are recognized for excellence in research innovation as well as educational impact within the field of organic chemistry. --- ## Due Dates - Nomination period opens: July 1, 2024 - Nomination deadline: November 1, 2024 - Award recipients are notified the following summer and formally recognized at the ACS Spring Meeting. --- ## Funding Amount - $5,000 honorarium and a certificate - Up to $2,500 reimbursed for travel expenses to the ACS meeting where the award is presented --- ## Eligibility - Open to faculty, industry professionals, and chemistry professionals - No restrictions based on race, gender, age, religion, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, disability status, or educational background - Nominees do not need to be ACS members - Nominees should have significant contributions to research and education in organic synthesis - Previous ACS National Award recipients may be nominated if the nomination is for new/different work or if five years have elapsed since the last award (with some exceptions) - Nominations can only have one primary nominator; support letters are required (see Application Process) --- ## Application Process - Nominations are submitted online between July 1 and November 1 annually via the [ACS National Awards Nomination Portal](https://www.nominate.acs.org/) - Required materials: - Contact information for nominator, nominee, and support letter writers - Award citation (≤25 words) - Recommendation letter (≤750 words) from the nominator - Brief biographical sketch (≤2 pages; no publication list) - List of up to 20 significant publications and patents - At least one support letter (≤400 words), with a second optional and encouraged - Nominations remain active for three award cycles if not selected - Team nominations are permitted only in exceptional cases with prior sponsor/ACS approval --- ## Additional Information - Recipients must deliver an address on their recognized scientific work at the ACS Spring Meeting - The award is presented at the ACS National Awards Banquet and Ceremony - Past recipients and related opportunities are listed on the [program page](https://www.acs.org/funding/awards/david-a-evans-award-for-the-advancement-and-education-of-organic-synthesis/past-recipients.html) - For detailed requirements and a nomination timeline, see the [Nomination Requirements & Timeline](https://www.acs.org/funding/awards/national/nominations/requirements-and-timeline.html) --- ## External Links - [Program Page: David A.
