The David & Lola Swede P’89 Research Fellowship for Jewish Studies was established to honor the legacy of two Holocaust survivors dedicated to Holocaust education, support for Israel, and the values of Tikkun Olam. The fellowship provides a $5,000 summer stipend to a Brandeis undergraduate undertaking otherwise unpaid academic research or creative projects centered on Judaism and/or the Jewish people. Through this program, students are encouraged to engage deeply with Jewish history, culture, and identity, furthering the Swedes’ mission to ensure the lessons of the Holocaust are never forgotten and to foster positive change.
