Key Information: No preliminary data allowed; early-career investigators are encouraged; open to domestic and foreign organizations.
This opportunity, offered by the Reconstructive Transplant Research Program (RTRP) under the Department of Defense, funds highly innovative, exploratory research relevant to reconstructive transplantation. The Concept Award is designed to support new concepts or untested theories that could open new avenues in the field, rather than incremental advances. The program seeks projects that address at least one of the focus areas related to vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA), including immunosuppression, graft monitoring, biomarker development, preservation strategies, and outcome measurement.
Clinical trials are not permitted under this mechanism. Projects must not include preliminary data but must demonstrate a sound rationale and the ability to achieve interpretable results. Early-career investigators are encouraged to apply, and the program is open to a broad range of applicant organizations, both domestic and international, public or private, for-profit or nonprofit.
