The Diamonstein-Spielvogel Fellowship Program at the New York Public Library (NYPL) supports advanced research at the Stephen A. Schwarzman Building in Manhattan. Designed for Ph.D. candidates, postdoctoral scholars, professionals, and independent researchers, the fellowship offers access to NYPL’s extensive collections, including manuscripts, archives, books, photographs, prints, maps, newspapers, and journals. The program seeks projects that would significantly benefit from onsite research, especially those requiring use of original materials.
Fellows are provided with dedicated study space, support from expert librarians, and opportunities to engage with NYPL’s scholarly community. As part of the fellowship, recipients must participate in at least two public forums to share their research or expertise, fostering broader dissemination of humanities scholarship.
Preference is given to projects in the humanities and the visual, auditory/performing, and literary arts, but projects in other fields (such as science or public policy) are eligible if they use humanities-related methodologies.
