Description
The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) offers the Digital Projects for the Public grant program to support projects that interpret and analyze humanities content primarily through digital platforms and formats. Eligible digital formats include websites, mobile applications, interactive tours, touch screens and kiosks, games, virtual and augmented reality environments, and other innovative digital media.
Projects funded by this program should:
- Present analysis that deepens public understanding of significant humanities ideas.
- Incorporate sound humanities scholarship.
- Involve humanities scholars throughout all phases of development and production.
- Include appropriate digital media professionals.
- Reach a broad, general, nonspecialist audience through a realistic plan for development, marketing, and distribution.
- Create appealing digital formats accessible to the general public.
- Demonstrate the capacity to sustain themselves beyond the grant period.
The program encourages projects that can engage audiences online or in person at venues such as museums, libraries, or cultural institutions. Applicants may also identify specific communities or groups, including students, who may particularly benefit from the project.
This grant is intended for organizations, including state and local governments, public and private institutions of higher education, Native American tribal governments, and nonprofits with 501(c)(3) status (excluding institutions of higher education).
