The Directed Research program at the Norman B. Leventhal Center for Advanced Urbanism (LCAU), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), offers organizations the opportunity to initiate and sponsor tailored research projects addressing critical urban issues. Collaborators work directly with MIT faculty and LCAU leadership to define the research topic, objectives, and deliverables. Projects can range from focused studio workshops and design proposals to multi-year, in-depth research initiatives. Each engagement is formalized through a Sponsored Research Agreement specifying the scope, timeline, and budget, ensuring the research is customized to the sponsor's interests and needs.
