The Distinguished Nurse Scholar-in-Residence Program offers a unique, year-long residential experience in Washington, DC for exceptional nurse leaders. Hosted at the National Academy of Medicine (NAM), the program immerses participants in national health policy development and provides opportunities to contribute to key NAM initiatives. Scholars are expected to produce a policy-oriented paper or participate in relevant National Academies studies, advancing evidence-based health policy and promoting public understanding, with a particular emphasis on health equity. The program is supported by the American Academy of Nursing (AAN), the American Nurses Association (ANA), and the American Nurses Foundation.
