This program aims to increase the enrollment, retention, and graduation rates of nursing students from disadvantaged backgrounds by supporting comprehensive, evidence-based education strategies. Funded projects should create or expand academic, social, and financial support systems for these students, recruit and retain diverse faculty and preceptors, and foster partnerships to enhance clinical and experiential learning, particularly in rural or medically underserved areas. The overarching goal is to build a more diverse nursing workforce equipped to address the needs of underserved communities.
