    The Sundance Institute Documentary Film Program (DFP) is a global initiative supporting independent nonfiction filmmakers in creating cinematic documentaries that address contemporary themes, including human rights, social justice, and freedom of expression. The program offers year-round support through grants, creative labs, mentorship, and strategic advice, from development through distribution. The DFP is committed to advancing documentary filmmaking as a vital art form and nurturing projects that foster social impact and expand cultural dialogue. Two primary funding streams are available: the Documentary Fund (for a wide range of contemporary topics) and the Sandbox Fund (for projects at the intersection of science and nonfiction storytelling).
