Description
This funding opportunity, administered by the Department of Defense (DoD) Melanoma Research Program (MRP), seeks to support innovative, exploratory, high-risk/potentially high-reward research projects in melanoma. The award is designed to foster novel concepts, paradigms, or methods that challenge current understanding or open new avenues of investigation. Projects should aim to establish proof of principle and generate preliminary data that could lead to future, larger-scale research efforts.
Applicants are expected to focus on one or more of the FY25 MRP strategic priorities:
- Prevention and Interception (risk factors, biomarkers, detection, early intervention)
- Rare Melanomas (understudied subtypes, unmet needs across the research spectrum)
- Survivorship (quality of life, symptom management, psychological and physical impacts)
Preliminary data are discouraged to emphasize new, untested ideas. Clinical trials are not permitted under this mechanism.
