Description
This opportunity funds collaborative, multidisciplinary research teams to advance the state of the science in melanoma research and/or patient care. Projects must be hypothesis-driven and address at least one of the Melanoma Research Program (MRP) focus areas: prevention and interception, rare melanomas, or survivorship. The Team Science Award (TSA) mechanism is designed to bring together investigators from multiple disciplines and/or therapeutic areas to address complex, multi-dimensional problems in melanoma that cannot be solved by individual investigators working alone.
Distinctive features include:
- Requirement for 2–3 Principal Investigators (PIs), each named on a separate award to their institution.
- Strong encouragement for multi-institutional partnerships.
- Projects must provide preliminary data supporting feasibility.
- Inclusion of early-career, military, VA, and/or non-melanoma field investigators is encouraged.
- Engagement with the melanoma consumer community is encouraged but not required.
- Clinical trials are not permitted under this mechanism.
