Description
This opportunity from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) provides funding to eligible state, local, and tribal government entities to address a range of criminal justice deficits related to immigration enforcement and prosecution. The program is authorized under the BIDEN Reimbursement Fund and supports activities such as locating and apprehending individuals unlawfully present who have committed crimes, enhancing investigative and prosecutorial capacity, court operations, temporary detention, transportation, and law enforcement support logistics.
Funding is available under three main categories:
- Hiring: For both sworn law enforcement and non-sworn personnel, including hiring, rehiring, and retention for roles supporting criminal justice operations.
- Technology and Equipment: To acquire, implement, and maintain advanced technology and equipment that address critical resource gaps in criminal justice operations.
- Construction/Renovation: For major construction or substantial renovation/modernization of temporary detention facilities for criminal illegal aliens.
Eligible expenses can be for activities that occurred on or after January 20, 2021. The program aims to enhance participation in Homeland Security Task Force activities and DOJ initiatives to combat gangs, cartels, and violent crime.
