--- ## Description The FY26 Alzheimer’s Research Program (AZRP) Transforming Research Award (TrRA) from the Department of Defense supports innovative, non-incremental research that aims to drive significant advances in understanding and reducing risk, and in preventing the development of Alzheimer’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease-related dementias (AD/ADRD). The program seeks projects that address either risk factor knowledge or risk reduction solutions, with a strong emphasis on community collaboration for studies prospectively enrolling human subjects. While clinical research is permitted, clinical trials and animal studies are strictly prohibited. Preliminary data are required for all applications. Distinctive features include: - Focus on risk factor identification/validation and risk reduction strategies. - Encouragement of community engagement and collaboration. - Optional Career Initiation or Transition (CIT) Partnership for collaborative projects involving more than one PI. --- ## Due Dates - **Pre-application deadline:** June 22, 2026 (required) - **Application deadline:** September 24, 2026 All deadlines are firm; no grace periods are allowed. --- ## Funding Amount - **Estimated total program funding:** $4,000,000 - **Expected number of awards:** ~4 - **Maximum award:** $1,000,000 total costs per award (whether single PI or CIT partnership) - **Project duration:** Up to 3 years --- ## Eligibility - **Organizations:** Open to domestic and foreign, public or private, for-profit and nonprofit organizations, including academic, industry, and government entities. - **Principal Investigators:** Must be independent investigators affiliated with eligible organizations.
