    Description

This opportunity supports robust, well-designed research projects that drive transformative advancements in reducing risk and preventing the development of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Alzheimer’s disease related dementias (ADRD). Funded by the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) under the Department of Defense, the award is designed to accelerate impactful solutions, focusing on risk factor knowledge and risk reduction strategies. The program encourages both new and established collaborations, including a Career Initiation or Transition (CIT) Partnership Option for multi-PI projects.

    Distinctive features include:

    • Research must address either (or both) of two focus areas: understanding/validating risk and protective factors, or developing risk reduction solutions.
    • Clinical research is permitted, but clinical trials and animal research are strictly prohibited.
    • Preliminary data are required at the time of application.
    • Community collaboration is mandatory for research prospectively enrolling human subjects.
    • The CIT Partnership Option allows for collaborative projects, with each PI receiving a separate award.
