    Description

This grant provides support for early-career artists based in Minnesota who are working in the public art field. Funding is intended for research and development activities or the planning phase of freely accessible public art installations or activities. The program encourages a broad range of activities, including research, planning, community engagement, site or budget development, and model building, with an emphasis on innovation and benefit to the community. Public art is defined expansively, including temporary or permanent works, murals, sculptures, performances, storytelling, and other creative forms, provided they are free and accessible to the public.

The program is strongly committed to equity, prioritizing applications from BIPOC and Native artists, LGBTQIA+ artists, womxn, immigrants, rural artists, and artists with disabilities. Proposals should demonstrate artistic growth, community benefit, and a clear vision for the artist’s development in public art.
