Description
The Early Career Scheme (ECS) is a competitive grant program administered by the Hong Kong Research Grants Council to nurture junior academics at UGC-funded universities. The scheme aims to foster research excellence, encourage the integration of research and undergraduate education, and support the development of independent research careers for new faculty. ECS provides funding for research projects, with tailored project durations based on the applicant’s years in their first full-time academic role, and offers additional awards for outstanding education plans that train undergraduate students in research. All applications are peer-reviewed in dedicated sessions, ensuring junior academics compete only among themselves.
