Key Information: Student participants must be U.S. citizens enrolled at an Alaskan institution; preference for NASA-relevant projects and underrepresented groups.
The Early Career Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship, offered by the Alaska Space Grant Program, enables faculty at Alaska higher education institutions to propose defined science or engineering research projects for one to two early career undergraduate students. The goal is to provide authentic research or engineering experiences—often a student’s first substantial exposure to STEM research—under the mentorship of a faculty member. Projects should ideally align with NASA’s interests, and the program encourages participation from women, underrepresented minorities, and early career faculty. Faculty are responsible for recruiting eligible students, guiding the research, and supporting student participation in the Alaska Space Grant Symposium or an alternative public forum.
