Description
The NSF Economics program supports research that improves understanding of the processes and institutions of the U.S. economy and the world system of which it is part. It strengthens empirical and theoretical economic analysis and methods for rigorous research on economic behavior. Supported fields include econometrics, economic history, environmental economics, finance, industrial organization, international economics, labor economics, macroeconomics, mathematical economics, and public finance.
The program welcomes individual and multi-investigator projects, doctoral dissertation research, conferences, symposia, experiments, data collection and dissemination, computer equipment and instrumentation, and undergraduate research experiences. It places high priority on interdisciplinary research, including work linking economics with other social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, and statistics. Broadening participation is also a priority, with proposals encouraged from groups and regions that have traditionally not participated fully in science, mathematics, and engineering.
