    The Essential Artist Award, funded by the McKnight Foundation through the East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC), recognizes and supports exceptional professional artists and culture bearers living in East Central Minnesota. The program aims to reward artistic excellence and dedication, providing recipients with resources to further their creative work, pursue advanced study (not related to a degree), purchase supplies, or achieve other career goals. Awards are open to artists working in any medium and at any stage of their professional careers, with an emphasis on advancing both individual practice and broader community contributions.
