Description
This cooperative agreement aims to develop and deliver education, training, and outreach regarding the FDA's Produce Safety Rule (PSR) specifically for produce farmers who are members of federally recognized Tribes. The program is designed to address disparities in access to food safety education and technical assistance in Tribal communities by providing culturally appropriate, science-based resources and support. Activities will be tailored to reflect Tribal history, culture, and agricultural practices, and may also include Tribal farmers not currently required to comply with the PSR but interested in doing so for economic or other reasons. The initiative seeks to build a qualified network of Tribal produce safety trainers, strengthen partnerships, and improve the effectiveness and reach of produce safety training and outreach in Tribal communities.
