Description
This cooperative agreement, administered by the Bureau of Consular Affairs, Office of Children’s Issues, supports a comprehensive research study on the effects of international parental child abduction (IPCA) on abducted children and left-behind parents in the United States. The project aims to identify both short- and long-term impacts across a range of domains (psychological, developmental, economic, legal, and social), assess gaps in support, and provide actionable recommendations for improving services and resources for affected families.
The study is expected to deliver at least two public-facing products:
- A product from the planning period (e.g., literature review, data gap analysis)
- A comprehensive final report with findings and evidence-based recommendations
The project must include a planning period (up to 12 months) with consultation from a Steering Committee, followed by research implementation and dissemination activities.
