Description
Innovate UK operates this expression of interest (EOI) for UK Research and Innovation’s R&D Missions Accelerator Programme, in partnership with the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero. It is the first stage in selecting Flexibility Service Providers for Phase 1 of a Great Britain Demand Turn Up (DTU) trial. The trial will test whether rebating the value of eligible Final Consumption Levies for verified increases in electricity demand can make DTU more competitive than curtailing renewable generation.
Selected providers would deliver live propositions through eligible National Energy System Operator (NESO) markets, pass the financial benefit of rebates to participating consumers, and support monitoring and evaluation. The trial aims to generate evidence on consumer participation, market outcomes and system benefits to inform future policy.
