This grant supports archaeological projects that make innovative use of technology to address significant questions about the human past. Eligible projects can employ technological tools and methods from digital, engineering, chemical, biological, or physical sciences, and may involve either fieldwork or laboratory-based research. The fund places special emphasis on supporting new projects led by early-career archaeologists (within eight years of receiving their PhD). Projects may focus on any location or time period, provided they are centered on advancing archaeological research through technological means. Priority is given to proposals that demonstrate innovation in technology use and significant potential to impact archaeological understanding.
