This cooperative agreement supports the establishment of a National Pediatric Readiness Coordinating Center to lead efforts in assessing and expanding “Pediatric Readiness” in hospital emergency departments (EDs) and pre-hospital emergency medical services (EMS) systems across the United States. The program recognizes the unique needs of children in emergency care and seeks to ensure that all EMS and fire-rescue agencies, as well as EDs, have the pediatric-specific leadership, competencies, policies, equipment, and resources necessary to deliver high-quality emergency care for children, regardless of location.
