This program, administered by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) Division of Energy and Mineral Development, provides competitive grants to Indian Tribes and Tribal Energy Development Organizations (TEDOs) to identify, evaluate, and assess energy or mineral resources and related projects on Indian land. Eligible projects include resource inventories, feasibility studies, and other pre-development activities necessary for processing, using, or developing energy and mineral resources. Projects must be designed for a one-year period and focus on activities such as exploration, assessments, market analysis, and baseline studies for a range of resources, including biomass, hydroelectric, geothermal, oil, gas, sand, gravel, coal, and minerals.
