This program funds longstanding research partnerships between scholars and communities who have historically been the subjects of anthropological research. The goal is to expand anthropological knowledge, combat inequality, and help communities flourish by ensuring that research projects are developed and conducted collaboratively with those most affected. Projects must demonstrate active, mutual engagement at all stages—from defining research questions to public mobilization of results. The program is open to doctoral students, PhDs, and independent scholars in anthropology or related fields, and prioritizes projects with meaningful, transformative outcomes for participants and stakeholders.
