The Engaged Scholars Initiative (ESI) is a one-year, cohort-based leadership and professional development program designed for early-career faculty and staff at Campus Compact member institutions. The program aims to strengthen participants' community-engaged scholarship and civic engagement practice through a blend of bi-weekly virtual meetings, two in-person retreats, scholarly projects, and individualized coaching. ESI emphasizes participant-centered, adaptive programming that values diverse perspectives, reduces barriers to participation, and advances the field of civic and community engagement in higher education. Participants build professional networks and work toward individual or collaborative scholarly outputs, such as academic publications or creative works.
