Description
This opportunity from the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) Directorate for Engineering supports foundational research in electrical, communications, and computing systems (ECCS). The program is organized into three main areas:
- Electronic, Photonic, Magnetic, and Quantum Devices (EPMQD): Research on novel classical and quantum devices, exploring electronic, photonic, and magnetic properties for new applications.
- Circuits and Systems for Communications and Sensing (CSCS): Research on advanced components, systems, and signal processing for communications and sensing, including both classical and quantum aspects.
- Energy, Power, Control, and Learning (EPCL): Foundational work on systems and control, learning, optimization, artificial intelligence, networked multi-agent systems, and their applications, with a focus on power and energy systems.
NSF encourages intellectually ambitious and potentially transformative proposals. Projects do not need to promise near-term products or commercial outcomes, and later-stage development is not required to be competitive.
