    Description

This cooperative agreement opportunity aims to advance the Centers of Excellence in Newcomer Health by improving health outcomes for newcomers—including refugees, immigrants, and other lawful entrants—resettling in the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Global Migration and Health (DGMH) will fund projects focused on:

    • Establishing multi-state domestic medical examination (DME) surveillance to rapidly identify infectious disease outbreaks among newcomers.
    • Developing clinician training, clinical tools, and resources to ensure effective and efficient domestic medical screening.
    • Implementing clinical consultation to assist with the treatment of complex medical concerns in newcomer populations.

This initiative builds on previous efforts (2015–2020) that developed a secure data repository, revised health screening guidelines, and created online tools for clinicians.
