Description
This joint funding initiative supports collaborative, multidisciplinary research to enhance resilience to wildfires in the wildland-rural (or wildland-urban) interface—zones where natural landscapes meet rural or urban developments. The program seeks projects that develop new frameworks for understanding wildfire dynamics, assess emerging risks, and inform prevention, mitigation, and adaptation strategies. The initiative is co-funded by SSHRC (Canada), NSERC, CIHR, UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), and the US National Science Foundation (NSF), emphasizing international partnerships and the integration of diverse disciplinary perspectives.
