This international grant funds collaborative, interdisciplinary research to enhance understanding, preparedness, and resilience to wildfires in the wildland-urban interface (WUI)—the zones where natural and human environments meet. The programme aims to catalyse partnerships among researchers in the UK, US, and Canada, addressing wildfire risk, impacts, and solutions at local, regional, and national scales. Projects must advance knowledge of wildfire occurrence, intensity, behaviour, and spread within the WUI, investigate impacts (environmental, social, cultural, health, economic, or built environment), and develop interventions for adaptation, mitigation, and recovery. Emphasis is placed on holistic, interdisciplinary approaches and engagement with stakeholders beyond academia.
