This grant, funded under Horizon Europe, aims to provide European schools and other confined public spaces (such as places of worship and public administration buildings) with innovative societal and technological solutions to prevent terrorism and lone-actor violence. Projects should focus on both early detection and prevention—addressing social and cultural factors (including gender roles and stereotypes) that influence vulnerability and resilience. Proposals must integrate social sciences and humanities (SSH) expertise and consider upscaling outcomes at national and EU levels. Solutions should be affordable, respect fundamental rights (including privacy and data protection), and foster improved cooperation between staff and police authorities. Awareness and training programs for relevant staff are encouraged, as is building on outcomes from previous EU-funded projects to avoid duplication.
