This program funds projects that explore the relationship between people and Florida’s environment, using the humanities to foster reflection, learning, and community engagement. Projects may include public lectures, discussion groups, exhibitions, oral histories, walking tours, media projects, and more—emphasizing collaboration, cross-disciplinarity, and meaningful community impact. Both new and ongoing activities are eligible, with a focus on relevance to Florida’s environmental heritage or culturally significant local issues. Programming can be in-person or virtual, and priority is given to projects serving underserved communities, rural areas, and first-time applicants.
